Introduction

Introduction
Different from the Thousand Island Lake in California, US, we have an alike name “Thousand Island Lake” or “Qiandao Lake” (Partly in Chinese) which locates in Zhejiang province, China.

In Chinese, the Thousand Island Lake is called QianDaoHu(千岛湖), which means a lake containing thousand islands. Located in the west of Zhejiang (浙江 in Chinese) province, Thousand-Island Lake is 145 kilometers to the provincial capital, Hangzhou (杭州 in Chinese), and 128 kilometers to splendid Huangshan Mountain (黄山 in Chinese). This is a shining pearl on this Hangzhou-Thousand-Island Lake-Huangshan Mountain international golden tourist route. The big lake has an area of 573 square kilometers which is 108 times of that of Hangzhou West Lake (西湖 in Chinese). In further, the capacity is more than 3,000 times of that of West Lake. So it has been given an epithet of three thousand Xizi. The advantaged Thousand-Island Lake has long and zigzag lakeshore line, wide lake surface and 1,078 scattered islands. Especially, long time water and soil conservation has formed an entironment of green mountains, flourishing woods, fresh air and clean lake. The magnate of domestic water industry, Nongfu Fountain, is originated from here.

Especially, Thousand-Island Lake Town, the county where Thousand-Island Lake locates, is rounded by mountains and water and has many flowers and trees. Its landscape and lake have attracted many tourists and made them enjoy themselves so much as to forget to go home. On 18 October 2004, in Niagara City of Canada, it got the only golden laurel in the final of the Eighth International Garden Cities Type B Cities. Up to now, this is the only Type B city in China, and even in Southeast Asian.

Good natural gift and beautiful entironment helps Thousand-Island Lake receive rather high recognition and reputation in the country. It has obtained many honorable titles such as National Key Scenic Area, the First Batch of National AAAA Tourist Area, National Ecological Demo Zone and the largest National Forest Park in China. In recent years, the tourism of Thousand-Island Lake has become mature. The industrial type has changed from the type focusing on sightseeing tourism to the type of complex tourism integrated with sightseeing, leisure, vacation, meeting and water sports.
